~Getting Started~

1.  Research composting with redworms and familiarize yourself with the basics.

2.  Decide on a worm bin whether it be wood, plastic or fiberglass and make sure whatever style you use it has proper drainage.

3.  Mix the bedding of shredded newspaper, peat moss, grass clippings, cardboard, manure, whatever you may be using and mix with water--it's a lot like tossing a salad making sure it is all mixed evenly together and not too wet.  Should be moist like a wrung out wash cloth or sponge.  Be sure to mix your food waste in as well--layering with bedding then food and so on.  Be sure to cut up your food or grind in a food processor in order to speed up the decaying process.

4.  Let the worm bin sit for a couple of days to cool down after heating up and let any excess water drain off.

5.  Order your worms.  After receiving them put them on top of the bedding and hang a light over the top so they will venture on down.  It will take them a few days to get settled into their new home.  Make sure to water them every time you feed them.

6.  Now sit back and let them do their work.
