What got me started composting with redworms?
Being a mom initially. When I had my daughter, I wanted to be with her so I quit my teaching job after being with the same agency for 12 years. I had done a lot of research on making an income which would allow me to stay home with my daughter. The research was a little frustrating due to many "work at home and make money" web sites being not quite what they said they were. A friend had mentioned redworms. The research began again! After reading through many web sites, I decided to give it a shot. It has been perfect for me because I enjoy being outside, I love nature and all it has to offer. I also care very much about our environment. After researching about composting with redworms, I learned how much we could cut down on garbage which goes into our landfills. Composting with redworms also produces organic fertilizer known as "castings" and "worm tea". These two products, produced from redworms, are great for gardening minus the harmful chemicals. After many evenings of researching about redworms, I thought this was a great opportunity for myself to give back to our environment as well as continue to be a stay at home mom. It has definitely been a win-win situation. I continue to learn new things about redworms, composting, and also learn through a lot of trial and error. Through my experiences, I hope to expand my business and educate others in the process.
